Description - Scope : Antigua and Barbuda is looking to build a new abattoir to assist farmers in meeting the local demand for poultry. A consultant proposed to government ministers that a new abattoir, with the capacity to process 14,ooo chickens per day, be inst alled to meet the island's monthly demand of over 150,000 chickens.Replacing the old abattoir, which often floods, will be good for the country since it will allow islanders to be self-sufficient and eliminate $16 million from the food import bill.
