TENDER NOTICE AND INVITATION TO TENDER
TENDER No: PR 9/5/3/2015 (IV)
TITLE: WORKS CONTRACT FOR OKAVANGO RIVER BRIDGE IN MOHEMBO VILLAGE
International Tender offers are invited for the Works Contract for the Constuction of approximately 1.2 km bridge across the Okavango River in Mohembo Village including about 3 km of road and associated Stormwater Drainage works. The construction period is 36 months. This is an international open Tender bid.
The Procuring Department is Roads Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The main items of works are:
• Construction of about 400 m of Cable stayed bridge over the main channel and a total of about 761m incrementally launched pre-stressed concrete box Girder Bridge; founded on bored Cast-in-situ concrete piles in the form of Oscillator piles to the highly/moderately weathered rock at depth of up to 30 meters below natural ground level.
• Construction of approach main road (of approximately 3km of length) to bitumen standard (Asphalt Concrete) and the associated Storm-water drainage works.
• Electrical Installation and Reticulation to the 1.161 km long bridge and Street Lighting along the three (3) kilometers of the approach roads.
Tenderers who are domiciled in Botswana must, in order to be considered for the award of the contract, be registered with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board in the following categories: Code: 03. Civil Engineering; Sub-code(s): 05 Bridges, Grade E (Unlimited).
Tenderers who are not domiciled in Botswana must, in order to be considered for the award of the contract,
- Shall submit notarized copies of original documents defining the constitution or legal status, place of registration and principal place of business; written power of attorney of the signatory to the Tender and;
- The minimum number of successfully completed Cable stayed and incrementally launched bridge contracts shall be two (2) in number, for each type, during the last ten (10) years. The value of each shall be at least Botswana Pula 500 million, or the equivalent thereof;
In line with the Citizen Economic Empowerment Policy (CEEP), mandatary sub-contracting to 100% Citizen Owned Contractors by Foreign Owned Bidding Entities applies to this Tender.
• Tender documents may be collected from the Office No 213/203 Roads Department Head Quarters, Plot No. 4787/88, Moapare Road, Gaborone, Botswana, during working hours between 8:30 hrs and 16:00 hrs on weekdays from 04th January 2016.
• A non-refundable deposit of P10, 000.00 payable by cash or bank guaranteed cheque made out in favour of the Government of Botswana is required for collection of the tender documents.

• A compulsory site visit with representatives of the Roads Department and the Consulting Engineer will take place at Mohembo on 26th January 2016 at 10:30 hrs. The Tenderers will meet at the Airport in Shakawe at 10:00 hrs and then proceed to the Bridge site in Mohembo. The Pre-tender meeting will be held in Shakawe at a Venue to be advised on the day of the site visit.
• The closing time for receipt of tender offers is 10:00 hours on 24th February 2016
Late tender offers will not be accepted.
• System of adjudication, sealing and labelling of tender offers i.e.
Two Envelope System will be used, one technical bid and the other financial bid. For each the Tenderer shall submit One (1) original tender offer document plus two (2) duplicate copies with two (2) CDs placed in sealed envelopes marked: Works Contract for the Construction of Okavango River Bridge in Mohembo Village.
